Noticed anything going on in central Melbourne lately? Works are under way on the Metro Tunnel Project, which will create a new end-to-end rail line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with high capacity trains and five new underground stations — at Arden, Parkville, Domain and two new CBD stations that will directly connect to the City Loop stations.

Since 2015, Lovell Chen has been involved in Metro Tunnel planning work for Melbourne Metro Rail Authority. We have been working as part of the project’s larger technical advisory and environmental assessment team to identify heritage issues and potential impacts, and to provide guidance on mitigation measures.

Lovell Chen also undertook the historical heritage assessment work for the Environment Effects Statement process, working with subconsultants John Patrick Landscape Architects (on landscape) and Jacobs Group (on historical archaeology).

We continue to provide heritage advice to the project.
