On a windswept hill with incredible views across East Gippsland farmland, is a traditional farmhouse that we have been working on, refurbishing the existing building and extending it in a way that makes the most of its location.
The site is just north of the town of Foster, which is 30 minutes from Wilson’s Promontory — an in-demand area for tourist accommodation and holiday homes. Our client was keen to keep the vernacular building. We adapted and extended it, creating an open plan living area around an internal courtyard — the courtyard is a specific response to the intensity of the wind here.
