Caulfield Station is a busy commuter railway station, 9km from the Melbourne’s central business district. Lovell Chen designed, documented and oversaw construction work for its upgrade, including the addition of a new cafe and associated landscaping.
This was the first project in Metro Trains Melbourne’s Bringing Stations to Life initiative. The main aims were to improve safety and connections with other transport systems, and to integrate an environmentally responsive design within existing heritage-listed station fabric.
We also undertook minor alterations to the historic station building on Platform 4 to facilitate the development of DDA-compliant facilities.
